"Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:24-29
Today we completed our last day of the Kids Church English Club Bible Camp. It was an amazing collaboration between The Beautiful Feet Project and Shingu Church. Transitions were smooth. The children we're engaged. We did two crafts, and practiced an English bible skit. It really was an blessed day, and despite the our exhaustion we have confidence that God is moving.
Tomorrow morning a large portion of the children will return for Sunday service with their parents. This is the one of Shingu Church's most amazing outreaches. It is so hard to bring families and particularly fathers into a church environment. Because of this, we have rehearsed an English worship song (10,000 Reasons), a worship dance (Alive), and English bible skit.
This provides a needed incentive for the parents to come to the church. There they can connect with the congregation, and experience the gospel. This year we will set up a coffee and donuts station outside the church. This will provide an opportunity for members of the church to connect with parents while their children rehearse. Please pray that God blesses this short time of fellowship to build strong connections.
Please pray for the worship song, worship dance, and skit to be an incredible witness to the parents. Pray for the parents to see the value of the camp concerning the quality of English and spiritual enrichment for their children. Pray for these parents to make this camp a priority for years to come, creating a foothold for the gospel in Shingu.
Please pray for me as I preach on John 20. I believe that there will be parents who are wrestling with doubt. We will give parents and children the opportunity to pray for Jesus to reveal himself. They will then have an opportunity to step out in faith to follow him. Pray for parents and children to accept Christ on our last day of ministry in Japan.
