"I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it... It was good of you to share in my troubles. Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need. Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:10, 14-19
God made this verse resonate with me (Joe) in a new way today. Just as our local community has sacrificially given to send us to Japan, Paul experienced the same generosity so he could share the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Something amazing happens to us when we partner with what God is doing in prayer, and financially. When we catch a vision of his bigger plan.
Last weekend we (Joe & Felicia) had the opportunity to connect with a precious family for the first time in 4 years. They have played a vital role the development of our faith during high school and college. This has changed the course of our marriage and ministries.
Every year, they have experienced a crazy financial windfall from God at the exact moment we needed support for Japan. They have a genuine heart for seeing the Gospel flourish in Japan, and their radical financial partnership has created access to Christ.
Like Paul, I desire for more to be credited to their account, and for God to abundantly meet all of their family's needs according to the riches of his love. I pray the same for all who are partnering with us in Japan this year.
We are currently at $7700 out of our $11,000 plane ticket goal. This means that we are only $400 away from getting our third team member on the plane to minister in Japan.
We have 5 days to raise $3,300 to get our full team to Japan.
Pray for our team to be amply supplied for this years trip.
Pray for God to prepare hearts in Japan that are receptive to the gospel.
Pray for new partnerships in Japan to more effectively engage local communities.
